It never gets any easier. I now have a fear of any of us growing older as if it would make the gap between us and Matt, who will always be young and handsome, somehow more real. My love to everyone who loved Matt and who still finds February a miserable month.
It is hard to think that it is two years since Matthew died. It still feels as if it was yesterday and any moment now the phone will ring and Matthew will say "Hi Mum"
That's a great photo. A look I really recognise - excited, engaged, in thoughtful concentration. He's just about so say something concisely brilliant... and top up your glass! Wonderful Matt. Leigh xx
I'm also sitting on Matt's bench in Finsbury Park - thought I'd chance a Google, inspired by the beautiful quote here "His life was gentle and the elements so mixed in him that Nature might stand up and say to all the world 'This was a man'". Rest In Peace
Sitting on his bench right now. I didn't know Matt but after reading the words of the bench I googled him, which brought me here. I have a 3 year old daughter... Hope you're doing well, Abigail. RIP Matt.
I spent many happy times with Matt, who I met at drama school. He was always so supportive and a talented actor, of whom I was envious in a friendly way. He crashed at mine several times after philosophical discussions late into the night. I still carry a photo booth photo of me being stupid and ruining his passport photo. I wish I could post it here for his friends to see and remember his brilliant sense of humour. Miss you Matthew x
Just found Matt’s bench in Finsbury Park. I was at school with him many years ago. Such a lovely person. So sad he is gone. Good to see his bench and to know how loved he was and still is.
